Alpha Lipoic Acid is a metabolic marvel. However, Berkson fails to mention the absolute need for people to get enough vitamin D3 and it's mandatory partner, K2. Evidently he has not noticed their importance in calcium metabolism: among many other functions, D3 helps mobilize calcium, then K2 directs it to your bones and teeth . . . and away from arterial walls and joint tissues (atherosclerosis and arthritis). This lack makes his information on vascular damage a bit behind the times. We now know that sugar is the inflammatory agent, not cholesterol, driving vascular plaques and diabetes.Otherwise, I gained a new respect for ALA and have added it to my families daily supplements. Heads up cancer patients . . . you really need this supplement.

What an awesome doctor. Perhaps the doctor's recommendation on diet has changed at this point since this book was written in 98 and I don't see many integrative medicine doctors recommending grains nowadays (won't take a star for that though). The main purpose of this book is ALA and his points on Alpha Lipoic Acid and supplementing are solid. This doctor is a hero, but I won't say why just read the book.

This book could not only change your life, but save your life!! Use only the "R" form as this is the only form that is biologically useful to the human body according to the latest research!!! (R-Alpha Lipoic Acid).
