The author pretty explicitly states what kind of book this is in the opening few pages - a kind of guided tour with history of the parks sprinkled throughout with recommendations and advice. Not a book that will tell you how to ride 50 rides in a day or exactly what is on the menu at the Brown Derby. It's more for people who are going to Disney and want to know what to expect, but still want the trip to be a bit spontaneous and without having everything spoiled for them in advance.It just so turns out that is exactly what I was looking for. Having been twice as a child and soon to be returning as an adult, I am completely unfamiliar with how the parks work now. This book gave me enough to go on without bogging me down with useless minutiae. I also appreciate that the book is 98% writing as opposed to listicles and statistics. It feels like someone describing how to have a really good trip to Disney without scheduling their day down to the minute. Also, thanks to this book I realized we can and should make reservations for a restaurant and our FastPass selections far in advance. That might seem like standard information if you're an old pro but FastPass with the MagicBands was still a bit confusing even after talking to a Disney representative. If you want a standard travel book with informal blurbs, bland descriptors, numbers, estimated wait times, etc. this ain't it.

This was a decent book and overall good book to read. I feel like this was more of a travel book than a book about uncovering secrets. The author does a good job of walking a person who has never been, or hasn’t been in years, through each attraction in each park. He provides a little bit of back story and explains what the attraction is about. If you know the parks in and out and know about the attractions then you do not need to read this book, but I will admit that I did learn some new details. For a first timer, this book is an excellent choice to learn about the attractions and the areas.

This isn’t a traditional guide book to Disney, and that’s what makes it so awesome! I haven’t been to Disney in 15 years, and now I can’t wait to go back! Mr. Goldberg’s fun and interesting details about the park’s history the minute planning that went into creating the magical place that WDW is gave me a whole new appreciation for the parks. If you’re not planning to go to WDW when you read this book, you will be booking a trip before you’re done reading!

Best book to give you the backstory on Walt Disney World and I've checked into about 5 others. It is delivered in a way that is interesting, too, not just reading a list.

but it is so hard to find. Way too wordy for a book about a vacation in an amusement park. Not at all entertaining, no pictures, no fun stuff.

It’s been a long time since I’ve visited WDW and I loved reading about the attractions and the details that went into building them. Mr. Goldberg does an amazing job of making you feel like you are there with him as he takes you through the parks. Highly recommend!!!
